UNIFY Continuity is an enterprise level disaster recovery solution using the methods and technologies deployed by many of the worlds largest corporations.
With UNIFY DataGuard in place, UNIFY Continuity delivers the next logical step. If the production database becomes unavailable because of a disastrous failure, the standby database is switched to the production role. The standby server has access to sufficient virtual resources to immediately take on the production database role.
The capability to rapidly bring online an identical remote server without loss of data is a considerable accomplishment. However, true continuity is only achieved if every device can immediately 'see' the recovery server. Through special agreements between Prologic and BT, internals of the UNIFY network are rapidly reconfigured to automatically redirect IP traffic from users, EPoS tills at stores, warehouse ADC units etc. to the recovery server. This means that warehouse operations and EPoS polling are unaffected by a major disaster or outage at head office.
It is because Prologic customers have previously made the requisite investment in Oracle and UNIFY technology and because Prologic has invested in the necessary systems and hosting facilities, that these capabilities are now available to all CIMS customers at a small fraction of the cost normally associated with this level of business protection.
