IT upgrade slated to take six months completes in 12 weeks.
Prologic today announced completion of a major IT infrastructure upgrade at Ossian Retail Group. Ossian, a value retailer with more than 160 stores, add more than 20 million transactions per week to their enterprise Oracle database. The upgrade moved Ossian to Prologic's latest release of CIMS, a web deployed business system for fashion & lifestyle companies.
The work included a move to the new Oracle Enterprise database and Oracle Application Server 10g along with replacement of servers, operating systems and the introduction of new HP SAN disk subsystems. The IT overhaul was expected to take six months in planning and execution, but was completed in less than three months, on budget and with no interruption to business processes.
The Ossian Group, comprising of the clothing value brand ‘Internaçionale’ and the homeware fascia ‘Au Naturale’, has ambitious growth plans. Earlier this year the group invested in 148,000 sq ft of warehousing space on the 650acre Eurocentral Business Park in Lanarkshire. This facility will feed its retail outlet which it plans to grow from its stronghold of Scotland, Northern Ireland and the North of England to the rest of the British Isles.
Ossian is looking to integrated IT systems and its long-term relationship with Prologic to support its rapid growth plans. “We use Prologic because they understand our business and give us the confidence to progress our growth plans safe in the knowledge that we have a robust technology platform. The fact that this major upgrade was completed without fuss or delay confirms our confidence,” said David Milton, FD at Ossian Group.
"Our continued relationship with Ossian demonstrates that the Prologic approach really does give our customers the competitive edge in this demanding marketplace. Within the UK fashion and lifestyle sector, Prologic continues to consolidate its position as the business system of choice," says Sam Jackson, Managing Director of Prologic.
